For the past few years, the worst and most horrifying section of Reddit has been...r/The_Donald, the de facto Donald Trump fan community that has caused Reddit no end of headaches. New posts were mysteriously getting boosted so quickly, Reddit had to completely re-work their homepage so new users wouldn't be treated to nothing but "LYING HILLARY DID BENGHAZI!!!" 20 times in a row. Pretty much every other section of Reddit has begged the admin team to take some kind of meaningful action against the sub - as they've done in the past with subreddits focused around hate, bigotry, and other things that make Reddit look like the worst of all internet stereotypes (conspiracy theories galore, banning users left and right, etc.).

And so, it's been a pleasure to see a new subreddit emerge - r/TheDonald (note that there's no underscore). While it ostensibly looks very very similar to it's underscored-brethren, it's actually a lot more wholesome and a lot less filled with non-stop hatred - because it's all about a different Donald: Donald Glover.
The real beauty of the sub is that to anyone ACTUALLY looking for r/The_Donald (and who may have just mis-typed), it does APPEAR to look like a normal Donald Trump fan sub. But when you start clicking on the images, you'll find something....quite unexpected:
So how did this happen? r/TheDonald was a lesser Donald Trump fan community - but very, very underpopulated compared to r/The_Donald. Since no one was really paying attention (and the sub's sole moderator had no activity for the past several weeks), some Donald Glover fans decided to stage a palace coup and push the sub in a more positive direction. As of this writing, the sub is still overwhelmingly Donald Glover...even though the mod FINALLY returned with their first sign of activity in the past 20 days:
So far, they've been back for a few hours - and they HAVEN'T brought down the banhammer or forced a bunch of Donald Trump posts through. In fact, they seem to have embraced the change - altering the sub's banner to focus on Donalds of all stripes and amending the rules in the same spirit:
