Chipotle has had its fair share of health controversies over the years - particularly a few years back when there was a major E. Coli scare - but there's been another one ongoing since the very beginning: SOMEONE KEEPS PUTTING TREE LEAVES IN BURRITO BOWLS. Disgusting right? Just like, an actual damn leaf in my otherwise delicious burrito bowl! How could this kind of food preparation negligence be allowed to happen? How does not one notice a friggin' LEAF falling into the food they're making? Just take a look:
@ChipotleTweets sheesh, I come back to Jersey and this is what i get as my first meal smh😑 pic.twitter.com/CxBRGPDJ6o

So gross. How could they possibly justify-
That's a bay leaf - we use them to season many of our ingredients. We should remove them before serving, though. Which location did you visit? I'd like to ensure we're doing so. -Becky

...oh. Right.

Yes, Chipotle includes BAY LEAVES in their rice and beans - and always have (although they typically remove them prior to be served, sometimes a rogue one will be served up to a customer). Bay leaves add flavor and aroma to the Chipotle dishes, as well as being edible themselves. The only problem? They sorta look like a regular ol' nature leaf - and, somehow after all these years, people have STILL NOT BEEN ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT. Seriously - searching Twitter, you can find complaints about this going back years and years...and the poor people running the @ChipotleTweets account having to calmly and patiently explain what food is to them the whole time.
Why tf is there a leaf in my chipotle >:(( @ChipotleTweets pic.twitter.com/522TnheaST

@michaelaieaie It's a bay leaf, we use it to season a number of our foods. Perfectly safe, but we like to remove before we serve. - Joe

Sorry about that. We cook our rice and beans with bay leaves but should remove them prior to service. -James

I'm sorry, but it's just a bay leaf from our rice recipe. We do our best to get them out, but sometimes one slips through. -Gabe

Here's one that might ACTUALLY be concerning - although given the leaf complaint, I'm genuinely curious if the pebble was kinda squishy, yellow, and tasted a lot like corn.
@ChipotleTweets found this leaf in my chipotle bowl. I found a pebble in my bowl a couple months back. pic.twitter.com/E81MGwj5D0

So consider this a PSA - those aren't random leaves that just fell into your Chipotle burrito, it's actual food! And yeah, they're kinda gross, but please don't make the poor folks at Chipotle's social media team explain it to you.
