How "They're Good Dogs, Brent" Became the Nicest Meme On the Internet

undefined

An undeniable fact of the internet is that the vast majority of people you come across will be hateful, toxic, and just plain mean. From comment sections to all kinds of social media, something about the interconnectedness of online communication tends to bring out the worst in people, particularly on sites like Twitter. But there's at least one account that's consistently worked to bring joy into our dark world of tweets: WeRateDogs™.

The account is mostly used to tweet about pics of adorable puppers and rate them accordingly (typically a lot of 11/10 or 12/10) and share a general positive outlook on life, dogs, and whatever the h*ck is going on.

But some people did not like the WeRateDogs rating methodology - namely an infamous individual named Brant:

In that moment, WeRateDogs had elevated itself to online meme god status - "they're good dogs Brent" became a calling card for maintaining a positive outlook in the face of criticism and contrarianism to all people everywhere.

Except Brant:

A movement started thanks to WeRateDogs' steadfastness in the goodness of dogs - leading to merchandise...

...and poor Brant being unable to tweet ANYTHING without people correcting him (and usually calling him Brent).

Thankfully, Brant eventually saw the error of his ways:

...and now the legacy lives on as one of the Nicest Memes on the internet - being referenced constantly without Brant or WeRateDogs saying anything:
